Since then, all Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme parks have added metal detectors for all visitors, plain-clothed police officers, security guards and even dogs that are trained to detect body-worn explosives patrolling the park. They have also moved all security bag check and security screening for guest from the ticket booth area to the monorail/ parking garages. Disney's security personnel are generally dressed in typical security guard uniforms, though some of the personnel are dressed as tourists in plain clothes. Despite the appearance of the uniformed security personnel, they are not considered a legal law enforcement agency. The Orange County Sheriff maintains an office on Disney property, but this is primarily to process guests accused of shoplifting by Disney security personnel. Disney doesn’t post most security procedures on their website, due to the fact people could intentionally see what they are just to come up with ways to avoid getting caught doing anything illegal. What can you look for in your next security company so that you can sleep knowing you're getting the best service for your money? If you're looking for quality then a large industry-leading security company may not be the answer. A big problem these bigger companies face is the need to fill in positions for a large amount of clients which often times results in hiring anyone they can find, then these guards are thrown into contracts and left to figure it out on their own rarely hearing from their boss again unless it's to deliver bad news. This may then lower their performance resulting in a downward slope until they quit and then the process repeats itself. This doesn't mean all the giant security companies are like this, this is just a pattern we've come to notice.
Some things businesses should look for are security companies that focus on the clients experience. A good security company will value your feedback so that they can ensure your security needs are fully met. They understand their officers are a representation of the company so they put extra effort into training their guards. They check in with their guards regularly and not only when they're underperforming. There are various benefits when it comes to a higher quality of service that not only you will notice but your staff and customers will too. When a company values its good employees it shows in their work, which is why a good company not only should show appreciation to those officers who are exceeding but encourage those who's performance has had a noticeable drop in quality. Whether you are a client looking to find the right Security Company, or you are the Security Company, I'm sure you've wanted to know what signs to look for in a guard so that you know you won't have to worry about the quality he/she will provide. I'm sure you've all heard stories of Security Officers falling asleep or flat out just not caring. Though few in many it does not feel good when that guard they're talking about was working for you, but what can you look for so that you can make sure you hire good quality guards.
It's hard attempting to fit an exact example as to the perfect guard since you can have a guard who is extremely quiet and focused on people's body language be just as good as a guard who is a better communicator and will deescalate many situations with ease. This means the signs to finding a good guard are more complicated than analyzing at surface level. The thing both guards used as an example above have in common is simply effort. They both go about handling situations differently but they both focus on one end goal, ensuring your property is safe. However, meeting this goal isn't as easy as it may sound. Security Guards are often times tasked with very dangerous situations. Though it may sound cliche, Security Officers have to deal with altercations everyone wishes to avoid. No one wants to go to work feeling unsafe or scared that if someone becomes a danger to the business or the people inside it, that they're going to have to take care of it themselves. That being said, a good security officer can benefit a business in many ways which is why we always recommend going with a security company who's devoted to hiring/ training great guards and not just settling for huge security companies that prioritize numbers over quality of service. 1.
