Per diem security guards must be able to work independently and make sound judgments in emergency situations. They must also be able to maintain a professional demeanor at all times. A per diem security guard is a security guard who is not on a regular schedule and is paid per day worked. They may be called upon to work short-notice shifts or to fill in for regular security guards who are absent.
